It's easy to forget, right? Inside of all of us is a part that wants us to be the best versions of ourselves—and who will fight mercilessly to help us get there.
My most damaging stories—that I don’t deserve good things by virtue of my birth and therefore I can never be good enough—stem from my childhood. They have proved difficult to change. A narrative rooted in the idea that nothing good ever happens to my mother’s family and that I am my mother’s child is challenging to upend. That my father died when I was a toddler only served to prove my mother’s point! Every success feels both guilt inducing and not good enough.
I was once asked, what does your inner ally say? I was like I have an inner ally? #foodforthought
