@ACP - Here's to you, me and everyone else who has lost their way, got sidetracked or found other voices to listen to beyond our own.

I'm glad to see and hear you are listening to yours below the surface of ordinary living.

And if you know who Brene Brown is - she is smiling today.

I'll toast to that! And I *love* Brene Brown and The Gifts of Imperfection. Glad that you picked up on that subtle nod :)

the good thing about having plenty of voices is that they are all still yours. 🤗 i too struggle to distinguish my different voices every now and then, but it keeps me together to know they are all mine at the end of the day. great read!

You are right, that switching between 'voices' is jarring. At work alone, I have many voices; my internal comms voice, my technical writer voice, and my voice for teams chats and emails. It takes effort to switch between them. It takes effort to go between them and it can be exhausting some days

Yes, this is exactly right. For me, the hardest part is jumping from business comms of any kind to creative writing. I need a mental decontamination chamber that sprays off all the rules and limitations.

I enjoyed listening to your voice err reading it. I have to say I would never write 16 years ago or 2 years ago for that matter. What I do know is the older I get the more accepting at looking back at my past flaws and owning that is who I was and try to write about reflecting on it now has been freeing.

Thank you! I agree, I’ve become much more accepting of myself (both past and present me). Very freeing.

This is a great reminder that our writerly voice is ever changing. And, I suppose, for the sake of growth that it’s entirely healthy and normal. Show me a person whose voice doesn’t evolve and I’ll show you a writer who has given up.
